We Live in a Beautiful World

In 1995, I caught myself making a huge mistake. I had designed too much plastics and electronics into ink-cartridges. They weighed heavier than the inks inside them and they cost more than the inks inside them. They were also designed to be disposed of -- not recycled. I approached a manager about recycling but to my surprise, he replied "This is how we make them pay, so if you want to keep your job, youd better shelve this idea". I laid recycling to rest as I didnt want to be fired. In 1999, I moved on for a directors job at Sihl GmbH.

In 2001, Septembers recession caught my customers by surprise. While there were choices of inkjet medias to choose from, there was no choice for inks. I was 35 then and saw an opportunity to recycle. While praying for divine guidance on one night, I heard His whisper "Sam, Do Not Fear, Go Forth". It wasnt exactly an encounter but tears rolled and I started SAM INK® accidentally. Yes, accidentally because I did not plan for it. Today, we sell SAM INK® because sign-makers, printers, and fashion designers all over the world found freedom to grow and recycle profitably.
Electronic waste threatens our rivers, our air, and ultimately ourselves. You know, 500 million plastic cartridges are buried in landfills every year. 500 cartridges are thrashed every second. Plastics in landfills release toxins into the earth while taking centuries to degrade. We can never stop them from entering the landfills but we can recycle them.

Most efforts to limit waste is personal, which means you could make a real impact by following a few simple steps. Lets say you run out of ink. Now, how can you also save money? The next time you run out of ink, dont just pick up a new plastics. Instead, buy recycle; they are often cheaper and you wont notice a difference in print quality.

Refilling is also a type of recycling. You are not buying new plastics, rather, you are just buying inks. When you run out of ink, you order a refill. Every refill is one plastic less going into landfill. All you need is the will power to try something different and youll be saving money and going green at same time! Thats a hard combination to beat, dont you think? With a bit of change, you can make a big difference. Everybody is refilling, so why arent you?
